about

"What each must seek in his own life never was on land or sea. It is something out of his own unique potentiality for experience, something that never has been and never could have been experienced by anyone else'.
Joesph Campbell

The music of Larry Williams is frequently the path less taken, it is wild, unruly, and seductive. He follows no map or prescribed course of direction except the promptings of his head and heart. It is free from dogma, convention, and commerce. It is always passionate and poetic. It is jazz and not jazz, classical and not classical. Sometimes it is subversively orchestral, complex, dense, cinematic, and in the next instant, childlike and innocent. The harmonies are lush, sophisticated and sublime.

'There is no theory. You have only to listen. Pleasure is the law. I love music passionately. And because I love it, I try to free it from barren traditions that stifle it.' Claude Debussy

And like Debussy, the music of Larry Williams springs forth from a place of total freedom of thoughts and emotion. Over his lifelong career, Larry has played a multitude of genres and styles, from a young classical trumpet virtuoso, a traditional and Fusion Jazz artist, many pop, rock and folk bands, and now, a classical guitarist composing and performing his own unique compositions.
This multitude of musical experience informs every aspect of his writing and playing. He loves different facets of all these genres and like a creative party crasher, his imagination relentlessly flows from door to musical door with unapologetic abandon. If you're along for this ride, you'd better clear your schedule for the following day.

The Seeker functions as a sort of re-imagined retrospective and a showcase for brand new compositions. also featuring a wonderful roster of great artists, all of whom are longtime friends and colleagues of Larry's. There is a palpable feeling of love and respect on each cut.
This album includes a wide variety of ensembles and orchestrations from solo classical guitar to chamber wind ensembles with brass and woodwind instruments, acoustic and electric guitar, wind synthesizer and percussion.
Like Zappa's groups in the 70's and 80's, Larry's works have a fresh and undeniably unique sound, created by his eclectic instrumentation and scoring.

As a composer, I've been a lifelong friend and lover of Larry's music. He's the only musician I've ever been able to co-write music with. I never know exactly where he's going to go musically, but I'm always delighted to be there with him.

Enjoy the music in this album. Experience it with an open mind and heart.
It will bring you happiness and joy, perhaps some of it will baffle or infuriate you. Either way, it will make you feel, think, and connect to the world in a very human way and these days... that's a good thing.
