A collection of solo guitar and guitar ensembles

I just listened several times to this new CD by my long time friend & musical associate Larry Williams, aka Laweeyum and more recently, Smailliw Yrral. It is fantastic on every level! Larry was always an incredible composer, and most people know him as the awesome trumpet player that he was. He's since retired from the trumpet. What some of you probably know by now, is that some years back he rekindled his love affair with the guitar and has become a pretty freakin' amazing guitar player! With every CD, his proficiency just grows exponentially! You can hear that he is spending COUNTLESS hours playing! There are few people that can REALLY excel on one instrument, and LW has done it one two very unrelated instruments. All of that aside, what I dig the most, is his MUSIC, and his unending enthusiasm to keep growing, creating, exploring, composing & recording! It's all about his love of music and his drive to create & express. And on this new recording "Song for my lady," he does just that, digging deeper into previously uncharted harmonic territory and exploring new grooves and time signatures I've not heard him explore before. Bravo LW! You sir, are an inspiration!

Larry, I finally got a chance to listen to your CD. Wow!! I must say it’s some of the best original music I’ve heard in a long time. As a guitarist, I can hear that from a technical aspect there is a high degree of difficulty in these compositions, but that is not what comes through in the listening. What does come through is the mastery of your playing and the beauty of the music. The other elements of this CD that I was impressed with are the arrangements (which are very inventive) and the quality of the recording, the guitar sounds wonderful. I’m not one for hyperbole, so believe me when I say this is one of the best overall guitar albums I’ve ever heard, but it also goes beyond that, because your compositions on this CD would also sound great performed by a string quartet, or a full orchestra. Bravo Maestro!
